Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.

ABOUT US

Stennis Space Center first hosted the South Mississippi Area III Special Olympics Field Games in 1983. We’ve added some events, changed others and retired a few, but the spirit of Special Olympics is still here and running strong!

Special Olympics at Stennis is a volunteer community service.  Each year, a new chairperson/chairing agency is named to head the committee.  This is possibly the most diverse committee at Stennis Space Center as it includes military, civilian and contract personnel, state and federal agency representatives, students and Senior Executives.

We post flyers, send out emails and set up tables to help recruit for our volunteers.  We offer opportunities for those who want to financially donate to sponsor athletes; these monies help fund the purchase of their shirts.  A golf tournament is typically held at The Oaks Golf Course, in Pass Christian, MS.  All these efforts help pay for the games.

Games are hosted at the INFINITY Science Center.  We’re excited about the partnership with INFINITY and are thankful for their support.
